During his time as a medical student at UCLA, Dr. Ravish Patwardhan collaborated on a project with an engineering student affiliated with the UCLA Department of Electrical Engineering and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Together, they worked with Mr. Eric Behnke in Dr. Itzhak Fried and Dr. Charles Wilson’s laboratory, on a combined microelectrode / microdialysis device.
Dr. Ravish Patwardhan continued to be involved with research during his time in residency. Working with physician assistant Dr. Richard Shane Tubbs, he developed a novel idea of ninth cranial nerve stimulation for epilepsy, with work conducted via the Cardiac Rhythm Management Lab in Birmingham, Alabama. Another project which was subsequently presented by Dr. Ravish Patwardhan at the Pediatric Neurosurgery Section Meeting in New York City dealt with development of a novel (collagenase) solution to help discern adipose from nervous tissue. This work subsequently led to a manuscript being published in the journal Pediatric Neurosurgery.
In 2006, after leaving LSU, Dr. Ravish Patwardhan founded the Interactive Neuroscience Center (LLC), which focused on research, development, and education. One of INC’s initial projects involved collaboration between Dr. Ravish Patwardhan and Louisana Tech’s faculty to help develop a navigation method for accurate placement of intracranial objects, to test the product on a model.
